Review Dec 2020 (written by her Care Giver of 3 years)

I had been visiting Mrs N, a 98 year old lady for a number of years, 2-3 times a week as her companion and home help.  She was always adamant that she would never ever go into a home.  She is fiercely independent and thought they would be ‘terrible places to live in.’

Over the course of a year, she gradually became more frail and unsteady on her feet, but still refused to acknowledge that she needed any extra help from me, or even consider the idea of looking at care homes.

I had mentioned Pinehurst to her, having experienced it with another client who had moved there and loved it, as I thought the beautiful setting, mother and daughter owners, caring staff, and home cooking would be perfect for her; but she continued to insist that she could manage as she was.

One day, in mid-October, reality hit home and she agreed that the owners could visit her at her home to discuss things A week later she moved in to Pinehurst.

This is what she said to me today; ‘If I had known that there was such a lovely place that would look after me so well I would have moved in a long time ago.  I am so glad that I am here.  I am warm and comfortable and have a lovely view from my room.  The food is very good and all home cooked; I can do as I please and my main carer, Denise is such a lovely, kind and funny girl.  We get on so well and she understands my humour. I feel so lucky to be here. I just love Nadine…she is so kind and sweet. I would like tell everybody thinking about a care home to consider this one.  It’s better than I believed possible and the staff here look after me as if I am in their family.’

As her Caregiver I cannot tell you how happy I am that Mrs N feels like this and it’s wonderful to see that she is now eating really well, having regular baths,  24 hour care and is no longer so stressed. It’s such a relief for me to know that she is in such good hands and is so well cared for.  Thank you to everyone at Pinehurst.

Mum went to Pinehurst 2 years ago and I can honestly say, she has felt happy and safe from day one.

All residents are treated like royalty and mum adores her main carer and looks upon her as another daughter. Staff are always kind and compassionate, which is very important for residents confidence and trust.

Interaction between residents is encouraged with daily activities which include, Poetry, Quizzes, Films and exercise. It is clear to see mum feels “special” when every staff member takes time to communicate in a one to one manner and seek their individual interests.

Nadine organises the most delightful birthday celebrations and parties for every occasion. With an artistic eye for detail, tasteful decorations and floral displays accompany the magnificent culinary treats and special dietary requirements.

Nothing is missed when it comes to the residents’ welfare and most importantly, I know mum is in safe hands.

The beautiful views from dawn to dusk in the superb manicured gardens are just breath-taking. Who could fail to be inspired with life at Pinehurst!

The care my great aunt Emily received at Pinehurst was exemplary. We came to regard the staff there as an extension of our family, knowing they always had Emily's physical and mental well-being at heart.

The way the Pinehurst team coped with the immense challenge of Covid-19 was admirable, going to great lengths to facilitate contact while maintaining the highest standards of safety. The beautiful outdoor setting was definitely a boon in that regard, and we enjoyed quality time out on the verandah with Emily, usually with a glass of wine in hand!

Emily had resisted the thought of care homes for years. But had she known she would receive such devoted attention, she would not have been so strident. It's of enormous comfort to us as a family that the final few months of Emily's life were spent in such a caring and friendly environment and I have the greatest respect for all the professionals there.
